Submission of Abstracts
Submission of abstracts on all developments and cutting-edge therapeutics for the treatment of cancer are welcome for presentation as posters. Invited oral presentations also require the submission of an abstract. For a hard copy of instructions download the ABSTRACT INSTRUCTION PAGE. For invited oral presentations (invited speakers only) download the ORAL ABSTRACT TEMPLATE. ProcedureAbstracts must conform to the instructions below:
- As a commitment to attend and support the conference, accepted poster presenters are expected to pay and register either for the full-time program or for the day of their presentation and all costs to attend the conference must be met from their own resources.
- Posters should present new material.
- The abstract must be submitted in English.
- Print must be BLACK and the type must be Times New Roman no smaller than 11 point font.
- Abstract text (11 font) should fit into the TEMPLATE PROVIDED, abstracts longer than the template will be truncated by the publisher.
- Responsibility for accuracy rests with the author, abstracts will be printed as submitted
- The following information should appear at the head of the abstract with a line space between each item and before the main text:
- Abstract title in CAPITAL LETTERS, 14 font and BOLD (no full stop at the end)
- Name(s) of author(s) – 12 font, underline presenting authors name – 11 font, Institution, city, country and post code
- Contact details for the submitting author MUST be included in the email body
- Abstracts should state briefly and clearly the purpose, methods, results and conclusions of the work
- References, denoted by superscript numbers in the text, should be listed at the end of the text using standard Abstract Source Index Terminology followed by YEAR, VOLUME, PAGE
- SI Units must be used
- The use of figures, graphs and schemes is recommended where this aids the understanding of the text but they MUST fit within the template
- Abstracts as they are submitted will be printed in the conference handbook.
Notification of ProgrammingIf the abstract is accepted for presentation, the first author will be notified by 1st August 2008. Withdrawals and RevisionsWithdrawals and revisions must be received in writing by Friday 11th July 2008. No changes will be possible after that date. Student & Early Career AwardsCash awards of up to $3,000 will be presented for the best poster papers by students ($1,000 & $500) and early career researchers ($1,000 & $500). These awards are distributed to encourage student participation and to recognise excellence. Recipients will be determined on the basis of scientific content and presentation by judges nominated by the organising committee. Anyone wishing to be considered for these awards should notify the conference manager by emailing hmricc@pco.com.au and attaching a signed document from their Supervisor confirming they are students. Potential Early Careers Award recipients must be within five years of graduation and need to submit confirmation of this from a Supervisor.
